The 2022 Scottish Open will this year be played in beautiful Edinburgh, the first pro tournament to be played there since 2003. The tournament is the 2nd in the 4-tournament Home Nations series, and it has previously been played in Glasgow. Reigning champion is the Belgian Bullet, Luca Brecel, who won the 2021 edition by defeating local hero John Higgins 9-5 in the final.

Where?

The 2022 Scottish Open will be played in the newly renovated Meadowbank Sports Centre, just about 2km (1½ miles) from the Edinburgh City Centre, and nestled in between the majestic Arthur’s Seat to the south and the port of Leith to the north. The Meadowbank Sports Centre is now a state-of-the-art sports venue, and with its close proximity to the world heritage sites that are Edinburgh Old and New Towns, it is the perfect place for a tournament in the run-up to Christmas.

Where to stay for the Scottish Open 2022?

There are a lot of great hotels in Edinburgh, although none right next to the sports centre. However, there is a bus stop right next to the venue with frequent busses that will take you to Waverley station in Edinburgh New Town in just about ten minutes. A personal favourite of the webmasters is the Radisson Blu located right bang in the middle of the legendary Royal Mile, but here are lots of other options, although none are particularly cheap.

Remember to book early, as Edinburgh is always popular with visitors. Most hotels can be booked without paying a deposit and may be cancel for free, if you don’t need it after all.
