- 1975 Mark Williams was born in Blaenau Gwent, Wales. Williams became a professional in 1992 and first entered the world top 16 for the 1996/97 season. He was world no. 1 for three seasons (99/00, 00/01 and 02/03) and in 2003 became just the third player in history to win all three Triple Crown events in one season. He won his third Snooker World Championship in 2018, 26 years after turning professional.
