The world’s best snooker players will return to Berlin once again in January 2026 for the German Masters, widely considered one of the most popular tournaments among players and audiences alike. Often dubbed the “Woodstock of Snooker” due to its electric atmosphere, the event draws enthusiastic crowds of up to 2,500 fans who pack the iconic Tempodrom venue.
Unlike the UK-based Triple Crown events, this is a pure ranking tournament, but it carries immense prestige. The total prize fund for 2026 is £550,400, with the winner receiving £100,000.
The defending champion is Kyren Wilson, who captured the 2025 title and the Brandon Parker Trophy.
Where will the The German Masters 2026 be played?
The tournament will be played from January 26 to February 1, 2026, in the spectacular Tempodrom. Located right in the middle of the capital near the former no-man’s-land between East and West Berlin, the venue resembles a concrete circus tent. Inside, the steep, amphitheater-style seating creates a “cauldron” of noise and intensity that is unmatched on the tour.
The venue has been highly praised by the sport’s elite. Top referee Jan Verhaas has referred to it as “the best snooker venue in the world, by far,“ and Shaun Murphy ranks it in his personal top three alongside Alexandra Palace and the Crucible.
It is located a mere 10-minute walk from famous landmarks such as Potsdamer Platz and its high-rise entertainment complex, as well as the renowned Friedrichstraße and Checkpoint Charlie. Right next to the Tempodrom is the Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn station (local trains), and there are four U-Bahn (Underground) stations within a 10-minute radius, making it accessible from anywhere in the city in under 30 minutes.

Berlin offers a massive range of accommodation, and compared to other world capitals, it can be surprisingly affordable.
City Center: The Potsdamer Platz area (10 min walk) features modern high-rise hotels like the Grand Hyatt or Ritz-Carlton for those wanting luxury. Alternatively, check Booking.com for the many apartments and hostels in the Kreuzberg district.
Closest Option: The Mövenpick Hotel Berlin is located in the historic Siemens building right across the street from the Tempodrom. It has previously been and may still be the official players’ hotel, so you are very likely to spot snooker stars in the lobby or at breakfast.
