Hossein Vafaei was born in Abadan, Iran. Vafaei won the World Championship for amateurs in December 2011, which also gave him a pro tour card for the 2012/13-season. However, due to visa issues, he could only participate in very few tournaments that year. He received a dispensation for the 14/15-season and was also granted a visa. His best results to date has been a semi final in China Open and a quarter final in Northern Ireland open.
